Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of the Wando iOS app, operated by Pocket Labs LLC ("we", "us"). By downloading or using Wando you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. What Wando is

Wando builds a language plan for a specific trip and lets you practise it out loud with an AI conversation partner. It teaches phrases, pronunciation and the replies you are likely to hear back.

Wando is a learning tool. It is not a translator, not an interpreter, and not a substitute for professional language services.

2. AI-generated content — please read this one

Lesson content, translations, pronunciation guidance, cultural notes and conversation responses in Wando are generated by artificial intelligence. AI makes mistakes. It can produce phrases that are wrong, outdated, regionally inappropriate, or unintentionally rude.

Do not rely on Wando where being misunderstood carries real consequences. That includes medical situations, legal or police matters, border crossings, emergencies, contracts, allergies and dietary restrictions where a mistake could harm you. Some of our lesson packs cover these situations precisely because travellers encounter them — but they are practice material, not professional translation. In a real emergency, use a qualified interpreter or the local emergency services.

You are responsible for what you say and how you use what the app teaches you.

3. Your account

You need an account to use Wando. You may sign in with Apple or Google, or continue as a guest. Keep your sign-in credentials secure; you are responsible for activity under your account.

You must be old enough to use the app under the age rating shown on its App Store listing, and old enough to form a binding contract where you live.

4. Subscriptions and billing

A limited survival phrase pack is free. Your generated trip plan and all voice practice require a subscription.

• Subscriptions are sold through the App Store. Apple processes all payments; we never see your payment details.
• Prices and billing periods are shown in the app before you purchase, in your local currency.
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before it ends. Your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the period ending.
• Cancel any time in iOS Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not refund the period you are in. Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription.
• Refunds are handled by Apple under its own policies, not by us.
• We may change prices. Changes apply to future renewal periods, and Apple will seek your consent where its rules require it.

5. Fair use

Voice practice costs us real money per minute, so it carries limits: a maximum session length, a maximum number of sessions per day, and a daily total. Current limits are enforced by the app and shown when you approach them. We may adjust them to keep the service sustainable, and we will not reduce them so far that the subscription loses its value.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• resell, redistribute or commercially exploit the lesson content;
• use the app to generate or practise unlawful, harassing or abusive content;
• attempt to access our backend other than through the app, or use it as a general-purpose AI endpoint;
• reverse engineer, decompile or tamper with the app, or circumvent its limits or paywall;
• use automated means to create accounts or consume the voice service.

We may suspend or terminate an account that does these things.

7. Optional coaching styles

Wando offers coaching personalities that range from encouraging to deliberately harsh, and the strongest of them use profanity directed at you as a teaching device. These are opt-in, placed behind an adult confirmation, and changeable at any time in Preferences. By enabling them you accept that the coach will speak to you that way.

8. Your content

Your trip answers and anything you type or say remain yours. You grant us only the licence needed to operate the service: to process that content, and to pass it to the AI providers listed in our Privacy Policy, so the app can generate your plan, run conversations and grade sessions. We do not use your content to train our own models.

9. Availability

We aim to keep Wando working but do not guarantee it. Plan generation and voice practice require an internet connection and depend on third-party AI providers; your downloaded phrases and audio remain available offline. Features may change or be withdrawn.

10. Disclaimers and liability

Wando is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of content.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Pocket Labs LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from reliance on AI-generated language content. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including your statutory consumer rights.

11. Apple

You acknowledge that:

• these terms are between you and Pocket Labs LLC, not Apple, and Apple is not responsible for Wando or its content;
• Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Wando;
• if Wando fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever;
• Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim by you or a third party relating to Wando, including product liability, legal or regulatory non-compliance, and consumer protection claims;
• Apple is not responsible for investigating or resolving any third-party claim that Wando infringes intellectual property rights;
• Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

You also confirm you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as terrorist-supporting, and are not on any U.S. Government prohibited-parties list.

12. Termination

You may stop using Wando at any time and delete your account in the app. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms. Sections 2, 8, 10 and 11 survive termination.

13. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be posted here with a new effective date. Continuing to use Wando after that means you accept them.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of [STATE], United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the courts of that state have exclusive jurisdiction — except where the law of your country of residence gives you the right to bring proceedings there.
